Matt Quarterman grew up as an expatriate in Lisbon, Portugal and Odesa, Ukraine. He studied literature in the Southeast, earned a degree in music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and has settled in the Pacific Northwest.

He makes music under his own name, as well as with indie-folk band Star Called Sun and dance cover band The Late Late Risers. His writing has been published in The Penwood Review, Sten-O, and Zymbol, as well as the forthcoming anthology Infertilities: A Curation.
